The International Book Fair starts on Thursday in Bogota with Ecuador as a guest of honor, who will be present with 45 publishers and 34 writers, and will be inaugurated by the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, with his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos.

This 24 edition of the third largest literary festival in Latin America, behind those of Buenos Aires and Guadalajara (Mexico), will feature some of Spanish and Latin American authors more relevant now, as Rosa Montero, Manuel Rivas Antonio Skarmeta and Juan Gabriel Vásquez.

Although some activities begin today in the 18,000 square meters provided in the Corferias fairgrounds for about 500 exhibitors, the official opening is on Thursday with the presence of the Presidents Correa and Santos.

Correa take the opportunity to present his book "Ecuador: From the Banana Republic to the No Republic", published in 2009.

From Ecuador to Colombia have come not only writers, also designers, photographers, filmmakers, social scientists, musicians, dancers and illustrators, who seek to follow reaffirming the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples, as highlighted by authorities on both sides.

In total some 115,000 titles at the event, which also will host the meeting "after WikiLeaks journalism", with the participation of José Manuel Calvo, deputy director of the Spanish newspaper El Pais, and Daniel Santoro, editor of the Argentine newspaper Clarin.

There will also be held for the Feast of Languages, where writers, poets, storytellers, musicians, dancers and artists from indigenous peoples and Afro will share their traditions in their native languages.

In addition, between 12 and 14 of May celebrate the International Congress of Enlightenment, with the presence of prominent artists such as Alejandro Magallanes and Quetzal Mexican and Argentine Diego León Bianki.

With the slogan "There are lyrics for all" and the attempt to overcome the 400,000 attendees of the 2010 edition, the show will, like every year, special activities for children and young people.
